AusTurtle Travel Grants Scheme

Congratulations to April Stevens for receiving a travel grant this year to present her research at the 26th Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Conservation and Biology on Crete, Greece... more info

Information for Applicants

These awards are to be allocated primarily according to financial need as judged by the cheapest return airfare to the conference destination and degree of alternative financial support. Applicants must be presenting work at the conference to be eligible for an award. Grants will be awarded only if funds are available. Funds are only available to support travel to conferences. The precise number and value of awards will vary from conference to conference, such that as many students as possible are at least partially supported for travel expenses.

The purpose of the award is two-fold:
(1) assist students in travel expenses to attend conferences related to sea turtles and
(2) reward outstanding academic and research performance. Academic merit is the primary criteria for the award. However, travel expenses of the individual applicants will be taken into consideration.

Eligibility
Applicants MUST:
· be a current financial member of AusTurtle Inc
· be a currently enrolled honours, Masters, Graduate Diploma or PhD student at an Australian University
· give a spoken or poster presentation of their research on Bare Sand Island at the conference

Selection Criteria
The competition will be based on:
· conference abstract
· a budget of travel expenses to the conference
· a brief Curriculum Vitae

All applications must be made on the official application form available below as a PDF file or word document. Winners of travel grants are required to acknowledge AusTurtle Inc in any publications arising from their research.
